My Raw Journey
Getting Raw Foods Into My Diet
Vegetables and fruits have not always been my favorite. In fact as a child I just about disliked most raw fruits and vegetables. After my first experience in a health food store at the age of 10 I looked at raw vegetables and fruits in a whole new way! I think the fruit that did it for me was a blood orange with its blood colored pulp and sweet fragrant juices. From the day I first tasted the blood orange I began to make it a ritual thing to visit health food stores every chance I got. With all the varieties I began to explore I could not help but want more raw fruits and vegetables.
At the age of 19 I began working in a local whole foods that had just been built. I worked in the nutrition department and that was when I began to really get into proper health and nutrition. Some days I would spend my lunch hour in the produce sections asking about the many raw fruits and vegetables as well as the benefits. In time I left Whole Foods to continue full-time at Home Depot, but I always keep the knowledge I learned about raw fruits and vegetables with me.
At the age of 25 I found myself as a house wife that had developed a habit of eating more processed as well as fast foods and soon ended up bed ridden for 30 days from a herniated disk. Followed was a wheelchair for 9 month and since then things have not ever been the same for me. Lets face it … everyone has a story so I won’t bore you with mine but needless to say I overcame what felt like a never winning battle. I stayed in that wheel chair for those 9 months till I finally started to make the changes I knew needed to happen in my eating habits. Once I changed my diet my whole life begain to change for the better of my health.
Part 2
I want to take you deeper so you can read about some of my actions that got me out of my wheel chair and back in to school. As I was saying, I wanted to be free from all the weight that I had gained from lack of movement, improper diet, and prescription medications that seemed to only make the weight and the pain worse.
This was finally the point I decided to look into natural healing. I found a health food store and headed to every ingredient I could remember that would possibly help me with my pain. I also sought the help of a couple of store associate to see what advice they may have had. Sure enough after I explained my situation to one of the store associates he suggested I cleanse my body of the toxins that came from my meals and from the prescription medications.
This was the first time I had ever learned about cleansing the body of toxins in such depth. Even working in a health food store I have never learned about the importance of detoxifying the body in such depths. So needless to say I purchased a good amount of natural healing and cleansing products. The store associate also talked to me about foods that heal and cleanse.
I headed to the produce department and grabbed a variety of raw fruits and vegetables. I was soon gifted with a Jack Lylanne juicer that I used to help me along my healing and cleansing journey. I lowered my prescriptions and started taking a good amount of turmeric filled capsules for infalmation and pain as well as cleansed on a regular which also reduced the pain a great deal. .
About a month had passed and I was able to live my life without my wheel chair. But that was not the only change that had happen as a result of me changing my diet and implementing regular cleanses. My moods were better , my thoughts were clearer and I was not constantly fatigued. My lungs and skin just felt so clean. I started to lose weight and wanted to walked a lot more.
I knew then I had to share my story with the world because there is no telling who may be out there dealing with the same situation. There is nothing worse than having your mobility taken from you when you are used to being so independent. With raw fruits and vegetables added into my diet I was able to heal and gain a great deal of my independence back.
